Client - Breen Construction & The Margate Caves Community Education Trust (TMCCET)
This once neglected and forgotten historic beauty has undergone a much-needed facelift and opened to the public as a much needed reception facility in 2019 and is once again providing a unique attraction to the public. The newly converted centre will work with local schools and groups to help educate young people about the history and art of these unusual Victorian passages that the caves offer.
The client wanted a renewable heating system installed that would offer a constant comfortable temperature throughout the facility.
The Reina Group recommended and installed a Mitsubishi Air Source Heat Pump which sits outside against one of the walls of the new visitor’s centre. The Mitsubishi control panel for the heat pump was situated in a small room, completely out of sight and not impacting on any of the public space. Underfloor heating was fitted throughout the centre with an overall heat generated from the floor giving the centre a constant and efficient heat. The Heat Pump provides all the heating and hot water for the centre by a renewable method, solely generated by the air outside.
